Sunderland Football Club’s El Hadji Diouf has revealed his World Cup heartbreak.

Diouf will miss out on the 2010 World Cup Finals after Senegal only finished third in Group 6 qualification, leaving the striker to concentrate only on the Black Cats.

"I am very disappointed about our elimination, the federation has decided to sack the coach Lamine Diaye, but we are all responsible for the elimination," he told Sky Sports.

"I need to put in performances for my club, we have a good team and we can surprise a few people this season. To be in the top half this season at least will be a good step forward."
