Alan Kennedy has questioned Liverpool’s decision to release Sami Hyypia.

The popular Finnish defender ended his lengthy spell at Anfield when his contract expired in the summer and he headed to Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds have already lost six games in all competitions this season, and their former defender Kennedy has questioned the decision to allow Hyypia to leave.

"I thought Sami was a great player for Liverpool,” he said. “We miss him...his authority and leadership. We haven't replaced him.”
