Liverpool Football Club are keen to secure Fabio Aurelio to a new contract.

The 30-year-old has become a key member of Rafael Benitez’s first team squad since he arrived from Valencia in 2006, making almost 60 Premier League appearances.

Although he has only made four outings in the league this term, Aurelio has earned his first call-up to the Brazil squad and will now have designs on the World Cup Finals in the summer.

The fullback is out of contract at the end of the season, however, and reports in the Daily Mail claim Benitez is eager to tie him to a new deal before the end of the year.
