Stiliyan Petrov insists Aston Villa are ready for their trip to Goodison Park.

Martin O’Neill’s men had a lengthy match at Sunderland in the Carling Cup in midweek, which saw them play 120 minutes before progressing on penalties.

Despite this unexpected overtime, Petrov insists he and his pals will be ready for their trip to Merseyside, where they face rival top-four hopefuls Everton.

“We will be fine. It is our job and we need to make sure we recover and we will be ready for the Everton game," said the skipper of the Midlands side.

"It was a long and hard night against Sunderland and we have only one more day to recover and I think we will be fine against Everton."
