Chris Iwelumo has shrugged off reported interest in him from Middlesbrough Football Club.

Gordon Strachan is set to be handed around £15million to spend in the New Year transfer window, and it is of little surprise to hear a striker is his top target.

It is believed the Scot has made his compatriot Iwelumo a potential recruit, but the 31-year-old insists he is happy to stay and fight for his place at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“It’s nice to get that acknowledgement, especially after being out for so long. But I’m a Wolves player and I’m happy here,” he said. “I’m looking to get myself in the team and to stay there.”
