Jamie Carragher admits Liverpool Football Club shouldn’t have lost Nicolas Anelka.

The France international had a loan spell at Anfield from Paris St Germain in 2002, and despite impressing, he was not kept on by manager Gerard Houllier.

Anelka is one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League with Chelsea, and Carragher admits he wishes the former Arsenal, Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers ace was still on Merseyside.

"I think it's a bit strong to say it was one of the worst decisions ever, but it's fair to say it was a mistake," the defender said in The Sun.

"You look at Anelka now - he was top scorer in the Premier League last season. It's in the past now, but it was probably something that never went our way."
