BIRMINGHAM CITY Football Club are plotting bids for Steven Davis and Kris Boyd.

Alex McLeish will be given a budget of at least £40million to spend when the transfer window reopens, and reports suggest he is planning a raid on his former club Rangers.

The Blues manager is believed to be weighing up an offer of £3million for midfielder Davis, who has previous Premier League experience with Aston Villa and Fulham.

And McLeish, who is desperate to bolster his attacking options, also hopes to take striker Boyd from the Ibrox club for a fee of around £2million.
