Barcelona remain keen to sign Javier Mascherano, the Liverpool midfield player.

The European Champions were keen to sign the Argentine international in the summer, but the Reds wouldn’t consider a sale after losing Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.

However, the Mail on Sunday claim the Camp Nou side remain keen to sign Mascherano, and could even make a renewed bid to take him to Spain during the January window.

The Anfield club currently have financial worries, although they insist none of their star players, which certainly include Barca’s target, will be sold.
