Daniele De Rossi could be Chelsea Football Club’s major signing in the New Year.

The Blues were relieved last week when their transfer embargo was lifted in time for the January transfer window, when Carlo Ancelotti is now expected to be given as much as £50million to spend.

And reports in The Telegraph claim the Italian coach is set to return to one of his former clubs, Roma, in a bid to take De Rossi to Stamford Bridge in the winter.

The 26-year-old Italy international is rated as one of the best midfield players in world football, and he would wipe out the bulk of Ancelotti’s budget were he to move to Stamford Bridge.
