Sunderland star backs Bent to bounce back
05:58 PM 09 November, 2009
Andy Reid has backed Darren Bent to bounce back for Sunderland Football Club.

The striker had a glorious chance to level against former club Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but his penalty kick was saved and Spurs went on to win the game 2-0.

There was better news for Bent later on when he was called up to Fabio Capello’s England squad to face Brazil next week, and Reid has backed him to get over his White Hart Lane pain.

“Darren will be the same as he always is," he told the Northern Echo. "You don't have to worry about that. He'll be desperate to score goals in the next game.

“But he's desperate to score in every game he plays, that's why he's one of the best strikers in the Premier League. There'll be no need to lift him or anything like that.

“He's had a great start to the season, and missing one penalty does not change a thing. He'll be feeling as though he wants to put it right, but anybody can miss a penalty.”
