Christopher Samba has signed a new contract at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

The defender was a bargain £400,000 signing from Hertha Berlin in January 2007, and his new deal will ensure he remains at Ewood Park until the summer of 2014.

"I am delighted that we have been able to secure Chris on a new long-term deal, which is an important deal for the club,” chairman John Williams told the official club website.

"It has been richly deserved through his performances, particularly during the last campaign when he demonstrated a tremendous attitude when playing in an unfamiliar role as a striker."
