Ben Foster will not be leaving Manchester United Football Club in the New Year.

The 26-year-old started the season as the Reds number one, but has since been replaced by Edwin van der Sar and is now thought to be interested in securing a loan move.

"Ben is staying here. He's made a couple of mistakes in games where his performance level has been good,” said Sir Alex Ferguson of Foster, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

"The problem is he's got Edwin van der Sar in front of him. Is he England's best keeper? Yes, without doubt. He's got the best presence, he's the quickest and brave."
