Roberto Martinez will look to add to his Wigan Athletic Football Club squad in January.

The former Swansea City manager will be given funds to bolster his options when the transfer window reopens, and he plans to use his budget carefully.

This will come as good news for the Latics fans, who saw their team get slaughtered on Sunday, when Tottenham Hotspur smashed nine past them in a 9-1 win.

"We really follow many players and we have to do it because we cannot have any errors in our signings," said Martinez. "In every window we have to improve the squad.

"It is too early to talk about names but we are working hard and have been since the summer. We need to get the right personalities and they have to bring something different to the squad."
