Tottenham Hotspur could seek Carrick return
01:00 PM 23 November, 2009
Michael Carrick has been linked with a shock return to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

The News of the World has listed the midfielder as one of the players who faces an uncertain future at Manchester United, and Spurs are reportedly interested.

Carrick left West Ham United for White Hart Lane in the summer of 2004 for a bargain £2.75million, and was sold for £18million to the Reds just two years later.

The 28-year-old has won the Premier League title in every one of his three years at Old Trafford, and he has also helped the club win the UEFA Champions League in 2008.

So his exit would perhaps be something of a surprise, but the tabloid claim Luka Modric could be heading north as part of the possible transfer.

I agree with austiman, there's no doubting carricks talent but we don't need him as we have players in his position who are all, in my view, just as good or better than him. He wanted the glory of champions league football and premier league medals, like Berbatov, so they went to utd, he's slowly getting pushed out and now wants a return. TOUGH!! stay there. I wouldn't swap four carricks for half a modric.

Paper talk and absolute rubbish! Carrick is 'past his sell by date' and even should Modric leave, which I doubt, Spurs are not dumb enough to think Carrick has anything to offer above that of the existing players. Huddlestone and Kranjar have far more to offer.
