Manchester City Football Club are clear favourites to sign Angel Di Maria.

Chelsea had placed the Argentine international forward on their shortlist of potential new recruits, and were willing to pay around £15million to land him.

However, Benfica rate the 21-year-old more than two times as much, and the Telegraph claim this has left City with a clear run to complete a £36million deal.

It is believed Mark Hughes wants Di Maria as a replacement for Brazilian playmaker Robinho, who looks destined to move to Barcelona within the next two windows.
