Burnley Football Club have confirmed they want to sign David Nugent on a permanent deal.

The England international cap is on loan at Turf Moor from Portsmouth until the end of January, and he has made a good impression with the Premier League new-boys.

It has been suggested that manager Owen Coyle wants to keep Nugent on a permanent basis, and this has now been confirmed by chairman Barry Kilby.

"I think David would come here like a shot and we'd like him here but we'd have to negotiate with Portsmouth when his deal is up,” said Kilby.
