Kevin-Prince Boateng is ready to turn his back on Portsmouth Football Club in January.

The former Hertha Berlin man has made a big impact at Fratton Park following his move from Tottenham Hotspur, and he will be key to their chances of avoiding relegation.

However, he is ready to turn his back on Pompey in the New Year, as he has revealed he wants to play for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations despite previously representing Germany at U21 level.

“I want to be playing at the World Cup and it would be difficult for me to get into the Germany team. My dad is from Ghana so it is a big celebration for my family," Boateng told The People.

"The African Cup of Nations is a massive tournament and we have a great chance of winning it so there was no question of me not going.”
