Avram Grant remains confident Portsmouth Football Club can beat the drop.

Despite a 4-1 hammering to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, the new Pompey boss is confident his player can claw themselves away from the bottom of the table.

"The spirit of the team was very good," said Grant. "We believe we can survive. It will not be easy. It will be a long, long battle. But it is possible."

Next up for Pompey is Burnley at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon, which is a game they really must win to inject more life into their survival bid.
