Scott McDonald is a reported target for Wigan Athletic Football Club.

Roberto Martinez hopes to boost his firepower when the transfer window reopens in January, as he looks to avoid a potential scrap against relegation from the Premier League.

Reports in the Evening Times claim the Spaniard has taken a liking to McDonald, the Australian forward who is currently contracted to Scottish giants Celtic.

Martinez actually failed with an offer to take the player from Parkhead during the summer window, but he is hoping for better luck in the winter.

McDonald has scored twelve goals this season and the Bhoys are unlikely to welcome any offers, but Wigan want to take him on loan for the rest of the campaign with the view to a £4million deal.
