Portsmouth may call on old pal Yakubu
Yakubu could be a target for Portsmouth Football Club in the New Year.
The Nigerian international shot to fame when Pompey brought him to England in 2002, and he eventually scored 36 goals in 81 appearances for the South Coast club.
He continued to be prolific at Middlesbrough which earned him a move to his current club, Everton, for whom he has hit 19 Premier League strikes in 50 outings.
However, his form has been hindered since picking up an injury last season, from which he has only recently returned, and The Mirror claim the Toffees could be willing to let him leave.
This would be a huge shock as Yakubu, 27, still has a lot to offer at Goodison Park, but Avram Grant may chance his hand at taking the forward back to the South Coast to boost their survival chances.
