Marton Fulop has played down speculation linking him with a January transfer to Aston Villa Football Club, although he admits he would consider such a move.

The Hungarian goalkeeper has been fighting Craig Gordon for the number one jersey at Sunderland this season, and he has hinted he may look to move on.

Although Villa have Brad Friedel and Brad Guzman available, Martin O’Neill is believed to be weighing up a move for the Black Cats star.

"I don't like commenting on gossip and as far as I am aware there has been no official approach," Fulop told Nemzeti Sport .

"Aston Villa have two good goalkeepers at the moment, and I have a contract at Sunderland until 2012, but if Martin O'Neill wants me I will take it very seriously."
