Emile Heskey is a reported target for Sunderland Football Club.
Whilst there is no suggestion that the powerful forward will be left out of England’s World Cup squad, he is known to be frustrated by his lack of starts for Aston Villa.
Earlier this season the former Liverpool and Birmingham City star admitted he could look to leave Villa Park in January, twelve months after joining from Wigan Athletic.
The Daily Express claim Steve Bruce is keen to add Heskey, 32 next month, to his squad at the Stadium of Light in the New Year, to add competition for places in his attack.
This would potentially be good news for Darren Bent, who has struck up an impressive partnership with Kenwyne Jones this season, who has ambitions of making the World Cup.
If the former Tottenham Hotspur man could successfully link up with Heskey for the rest of the season, it may give Fabio Capello food for thought when picking his England squad.
