Carlo Ancelotti believes John Terry will never leave Chelsea Football Club.

Mega-rich Manchester City wanted to sign the England international during the summer, but the defender responded by signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

And as the two teams prepare to do battle for the first time this season, at Eastlands, Ancelotti has told his opponents that Terry will never leave the Londoners.

“I never thought he would play for another club. He is a symbol of this club and a fantastic captain," he said. "It wasn't necessary for me to speak to him in the summer because he wanted to stay.

“I was never fearful he would leave. I can't see him playing for any other club. I hope for him and for the club he will stay for the rest of his career."
