Lee Bowyer accepts he has no chance of making the England World Cup squad.

The Birmingham City midfielder has been in fine form for the Premier League new-boys this season finding the back of the net on three occasions for the Blues.

This has led to suggestions the 32-year-old could be a shock contender for Fabio Capello’s squad, but he believes his controversial past means he has no chance.

“I could score 20 goals this season but there is absolutely no way I am going to be on that plane to the World Cup. No way whatsoever," Bowyer told The Guardian.

"There are too many people who have made up their minds about me and wouldn't want me anywhere near the England team."
