Alex hopes to see Chelsea Football Club add to their squad in the New Year.

With Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou and John-Obi Mikel set to feature in the African Cup of Nations in January, the Blues’ squad is going to be depleted.

And with a transfer ban hanging over their head, the forthcoming window could be the last chance Carlo Ancelotti gets to add to his squad for some time.

“It is always good when your club brings in quality players to the squad," Alex told skysports.com. "In this situation, then yes, it would be beneficial for Chelsea to bring someone in.

“When the players go to the African Cup of Nations we will obviously miss them. They are players that hold key positions. Those missing are ones that make us strong.

“So we will miss them. Hopefully Chelsea can bring in players that fill-up those positions and be of the same quality but it depends on management."
