Hull City Football Club are eager to sign Matthew Kilgallon.

Phil Brown is still short at the back following Michael Turner’s move to Sunderland in the summer, and he aims to sign a quality centre-half in the New Year.

The need for such a signing increased following Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Aston Villa, and the Tigers boss has made Kilgallon his top target for the winter market.

Sheffield United look certain to sell the player after he rejected a new contract, but Brown is likely to face stiff competition from Championship leaders Newcastle United.
