Everton hope to land cut-price Scharner
07:00 PM 08 December, 2009
Everton Football Club are keen to take Paul Scharner in the New Year.

The Austrian international defender, who can also play in midfield, is out of contract at Wigan Athletic in the summer, although Roberto Martinez hopes to tie him to a new deal.

“We want Paul to stay, to finish his career with Wigan Athletic, and it's something we'll address when the situation occurs,” said the Spanish coach.

If Scharner, 29, shows no signs of committing his future to the DW Stadium then the Latics are likely to sell in January, when the Toffees will hope to land him on the cheap.
