Hughes ready to trump Manchester United for Lahm
01:00 PM 09 December, 2009
Manchester City Football Club have targeted Philipp Lahm.

The 26-year-old is expected to be available when the transfer window reopens next month, after falling out with the hierarchy at Bayern Munich.

The German international, who can play in both fullback positions, has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Reds ‘noisy neighbours’ are set to get involved.

According to The Sun, Mark Hughes is keen to take Lahm to Eastlands to fight Wayne Bridge for the left-back role, and an offer of £12million could be tabled in January.

Philip Lahm is a very good player but united don't really need him we have world-class defenders and hot prospects improving all the time.
