Sunderland Football Club remain keen to land Maynor Figueroa in the New Year.

Steve Bruce has been trailing his former Wigan Athletic fullback ever since he arrived at the Stadium of Light, and failed with an offer in the summer.

Figueroa has yet to play for the Latics this season due to injury, but this hasn’t altered the Black Cats manager’s thinking, with an offer set to be tabled in January.

Bruce is pleased with the way his side have started their season, away form aside, but he is keen to bolster his back four when the opportunity presents itself in the winter.
