Bayern Munich have confirmed Luca Toni is likely to leave the club in January.

The 32-year-old Italian is down the pecking order at the German giants and has fallen out with coach Louis van Gaal, who has confirmed the striker is up for grabs in the New Year.

"I have nothing to discuss with Luca Toni anymore. He has stated that he wants to leave Bayern, so he could start looking for a new team," van Gaal told Corriere dello Sport.

”He has made the decision to behave in a certain way and there's no way back now. He didn't meet our expectations this season and he's no longer needed at Bayern Munich."

Gianfranco Zola, the West Ham United manager, would love to take Toni to England, but the player is understood to want a move back to Serie A.
