Wigan Athletic Football Club are giving little away as to their link with Sol Campbell.

The former Arsenal defender is available on a free transfer having had his contract at Notts County cancelled, and Roberto Martinez is said to be interested in the 35-year-old.

“Well I am sure you cannot buy the sort of experience you can get through playing many years in the Premiership so that is going to be a big asset for any football club," the Latics boss told Sky Sports.

"From our point of view I will always talk about the players we have got in the squad and I am not going to hide from the situation that we want to improve our football club.

"And we are going to do exactly what we do in every window - try to follow as many players as we can and make sure we get the right ones."
