Mark Hughes believes Manchester City Football Club’s Micah Richards can continue to progress.

The young defender burst onto the scene at Eastlands as a 17-year-old and was winning England caps within the year, but his form had dipped over the past couple of seasons.

However, Richards has regained some of his best form in recent weeks, and Blues manager Hughes is confident the player can continue to progress.

"It got to a point where Micah needed to knuckle down," he said. "He has done really well in recent weeks and is in the team on merit. There is more to come and Micah accepts that.

“We are looking for him to maintain his current level and perhaps surpass it. There is a challenge here and everyone has to step up to the mark, embrace it and enjoy it. Micah is doing that."
