Arsenal boss reacts to Hughes sacking
06:35 PM 20 December, 2009
Arsene Wenger has called Manchester City’s decision to sack Mark Hughes sad.

The Arsenal manager had a fiery relationship with the Welshman, and refused to shake his hands when the Blues dumped his side out of the Carling Cup recently.

However, Wenger insists he feels for Hughes following City’s decision to sack him in order to recruit former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini.

"It is very sad when a manager loses his job," said the Frenchman. "For me it's a sad day when you're not given the time. It looks very early.

"I cannot assess the situation at Manchester City when you'd don't know what's happening inside the club. From outside it's surprising and sad."

Man City fans, sorry to burst your bubble. Your owners may be mega-rich but they have about as much footballing sense as a bag of rocks. They won't wait for success, they'll change managers at a whim, spend masses of cash on buyout contracts and bringing in new players in a vain effort to get instant cash. The truly great managers will learn soon enough that Man City is only a place to pick up a big check before moving on to a side with sensible management and a chance to accomplish something other than sitting in on the photo-ops with the latest transfer markets' big buys. I feel for you, but Mancini won't change a thing. I give him until May, October tops. Sooner if the sheiks get bored.

Hughes was prematurely sacked. This guy needed a season or two to fight for honours. It's sad you are goingg to sack your Mancini soon
