Martinez confident of keeping Wigan Athletic stars
Wigan Athletic Football Club manager Roberto Martinez is confident he will not be losing any of his star players in the New Year.
Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Maynor Figueroa, whilst Paul Scharner is believed to be a key target for Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.
However, whilst Martinez insists he wouldn’t stand in the way of any of his players joining a bigger club, he would only let this happen when the time is right.
"It gives me great satisfaction when other teams look at our players," he said. "Naturally, we accept if a big club comes in we will never stop them but it has to be at a time that suits us.
"It has to be at a time that allows us to grow with that sort of investment. At the moment we are light and we need to sign players to help those we already have.
"So we are not contemplating losing any of our players in the near future."
