Jose Enrique admits he would consider seeing out his career at Newcastle United Football Club.

The Spanish fullback was expected to quit St James Park following United’s relegation from the Premier League, with rivals Sunderland said to be interested.

However, the 23-year-old, who has been with the Magpies since the summer of 2008, insists he would be perfectly happy to remain with the club for some time yet.

“I am very happy here,” Enrique told the Sunday Sun.

“I have this year and another two. I hope to stay here, my family is very happy here and if it is possible to finish my career at Newcastle United I would be very happy.”
