Carroll no longer a Wolverhampton Wanderers target
Mick McCarthy has played down speculation Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club will make an offer for Andy Carroll during the winter transfer window.
Whilst the Molineux boss admits he wanted to take the young striker from Newcastle United in the summer, he believes he would be wasting his time renewing his interest in January.
"We were interested in Andy Carroll in the last window,” McCarthy is quoted on skysports.com.
“But Newcastle didn't want to sell then and I haven't enquired since. In any case, I would imagine with them being top of the Championship, they don't want to sell now either."
