Stoke City Football Club may be offered the chance to sign Jason Roberts in January.

It is widely believed that Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is interested in signing James Beattie, but he will have to sell to raise the funds for a bid.

The Telegraph claim that the Ewood Park chief will offer Roberts in a straight exchange for the 31-year-old, who began his career at the Lancashire club over a decade ago.

Beattie had a much-publicised bust-up with Potters boss Tony Pulis earlier this month, whilst the former Wigan Athletic man has struggled to nail down a regular start for Rovers.
