Newcastle United ponder Boyd offer
09:00 AM 25 December, 2009
Newcastle United Football Club have been linked with Kris Boyd.

The former Kilmarnock man is in the final six months of his contract at Rangers, and he has been heavily linked with a transfer in the New Year.

Birmingham City, coached by former Gers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, are keen to take him to the Premier League, but the Magpies are also said to be interested.

Although the St James Park side are in the second tier of English football, they are running away with the Championship and could present an attractive option to Boyd.

This just shows what a joke Scottish football has become, the two biggest clubs having to sell off any half decent players they have to teams in the second tier leagues. Sky TV has a lot to answer for, they have made second rate clubs with hardly any supporters into major players in the transfer market. At least if Boyd has to leave and he chose Newcastle, he would be going to a club with a great fan base, rather than going to B'ham City for the money.

Worth a look, especially if he is a budget option. Newcastle have no real experience up front, and Boyd would add that.
