Robson pleads for Newcastle United stability
Sir Bobby Robson is desperate for stability to return to Newcastle United Football Club.
The Magpies are in turmoil this season with Kevin Keegan quitting, Joe Kinnear being placed in interim charge, Mike Ashley putting the club up for sale and the team sitting in the bottom three.
Ashley has come in for some strong abuse from the Toon Army who blame him for Keegan's exit, and Robson is also of the opinion that the former boss is exempt from blame for the current situation.
"I don't have any doubts about the reasons," Robson said in The Times. "There have been way too many managers and some of the player acquisitions have been dreadful.
"Who has been responsible for that, I don't know - and in Kevin's case that was one of his arguments, that they were bringing in players he didn't even know.
"Everyone thought the Messiah (Keegan) had returned, that he'd get it right. But then they threw a spanner in the works by appointing Dennis Wise and he operates from London.
"The mistake was bringing in people who aren't attuned to the club. You've got to be on tap."
