Alberto Aquilani hopes Liverpool Football Club can string together a run of wins.

Seven defeats in the Premier League already has cost the Reds any chance of landing their first championship since 1990, and they have a battle on their hands to finish in the top four.

A trip to Aston Villa, who beat them 3-1 at Anfield at the start of the season, awaits on Tuesday night, and Aquilani knows a win is vital against one of their main challengers.

“We need to improve our confidence and we need to keep winning games to move up the table,” he told the Liverpool Echo. "It is crucial to take things step by step.

“Our aim is now to win three, four and five games in a row. If we can do that, we will see where that takes us. Now we have to face Aston Villa and it is a very important game.

“But we are feeling good and it is important that we try to win."
