Phillips could reignite Middlesbrough promotion bid
09:30 AM 30 December, 2009
Middlesbrough Football Club are keen to take Kevin Phillips in January.

The veteran striker is struggling to force his way into the Birmingham City side this season, and has made just one Premier League start during the course of the campaign.

With Alex McLeish handed a £40million kitty in the New Year, Phillips can expect to fall further down the pecking order when the transfer window closes.

However, the 36-year-old could find regular action in the Championship, where Gordon Strachan wants to add him to his squad at the Riverside Stadium.

Phillips had a previous excellent spell in the North East with Sunderland, and he may be tempted by the challenge of getting Boro’s promotion bid back on track.

Phillips would be a GREAT GREAT signing for us. At this moment in time it dosnt look like good news concerning Kris Boyd and Scott McDonald and Phillips is a decent proven goalscorer in this division. Getting Phillips could be the difference between play-offs or not. Because right now i dont see where the goals are going to come from. Oh excuse me Arca can get them.
