Dave Edwards hopes to be back in the Wolverhampton Wanderers reckoning by the end of January.

The 23-year-old defender has undergone an ankle operation after picking up a knock against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, but he hopes to be back shortly.

"I had the surgery a couple of weeks ago and it's all coming along well as far as I'm aware," Edwards told the club's official website. "It was obviously disappointing to get injured.

“But there's nothing I can do about it - it was just one of those freak accidents. If all goes according to plan there's a chance it (return date) could be before the end of January.”
