Birmingham City Football Club face more frustration in their quest to sign Michel.

The Blues tried for much of the summer to sign the 24-year-old midfielder, but Sporting Gijon were in no mood to let the player head to England.

Alex McLeish is expected to return for Michel in the New Year, but the Spanish club are again ready to refuse any bids the Premier League club may make.

"If we damage the squad with the sale of important players, that could have a negative impact on our future in the top flight,” said club president Manuel Vega Arango.
