Birmingham City Football Club are on the verge of finally signing Michel.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the midfielder since clinching a return to the Premier League last season, but they failed to strike a deal in the summer.

Although Sporting Gijon continue to insist the 24-year-old is not for sale in the winter, Sky Sports believe the two clubs are on the verge of agreeing a deal.

It is being reported that a fee of €3million has been agreed for Michel, and all that remains for the two clubs to agree is the terms of the payment.

Michel is expected to be the first of many new faces at St Andrews this month, as Alex McLeish looks to use much of the £40million kitty he has been handed by club owner Carson Yeung.
