Arsenal eager to deal Gallas in
06:45 PM 06 January, 2010
Arsene Wenger is eager to hand William Gallas a new contract at Arsenal Football Club.

The France international has been in fine form for the Gunners this season, but his deal expires in the summer when he could leave on a free transfer.

In the past the Londoners have only offered players in their 30’s a one-year deal, but Wenger admits he may make an exception for Gallas, who is 32.

“One year? Unfortunately that is the rule here, except for the manager," he said. "For a striker after 32 you can only give a year contract. For a centre-back you can be a bit more comprehensive.”

Wenger I totally agree with AZ. Gallas has been amazing this season and we need both his experience and physical presence at the back. For Vincent Kompany everybody with a footballing eye knows that he is a good defender in the making
