Portsmouth deny James to Old Trafford rumour
08:00 PM 08 January, 2010
Peter Storrie denies Portsmouth Football Club will lose David James this month.

Previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur, the latest club said to be interested in signing the England international is, surprisingly, Manchester United.

The champions have only had Edwin van der Sar in patches this season, whilst Ben Foster has flopped and the jury is still out on the improving Tomasz Kuszczak.

However, Pompey chief executive Storrie has wasted no time in dismissing speculation the Reds have been in touch for James, insisting the 39-year-old is staying at Fratton Park.

"If someone makes an offer for a player they will consider it - and there have been some enquiries. But not a single one has come for David James,” he told Portsmouth News.

"There has been no interest whatsoever and I am not sure where all this talk of interest is all coming from. As far as we're concerned, he will remain here.”
