Micah Richards has vowed to battle any newcomers who Roberto Mancini may choose to add to his Manchester City Football Club squad in the future.

The richest club on the planet have predictably been linked with a host of players this month, some of whom would threaten Richards’ place in the Eastlands line-up.

However, the England international is prepared to challenge anyone who cares to compete with him, and he has the confidence to see off all newcomers.

"There will be players that come in at City, experienced pros, but I will compete with anyone. I don't mind," he told the News of the World. "I believe when I'm on top of my game, I'm one of the best.

“I believe I will achieve. Time will tell. The season before last I was linked with being the next England captain. I have learned not to get carried away with the good or the bad."
