Fabricio Coloccini insists he has no intention of leaving Newcastle United Football Club.

The Argentine international defender looked certain to leave St James Park following the Magpies relegation last season, but he remains on the payroll.

Coloccini has been impressive this season as United look for an instant Premier League return, which has sparked speculation of interest from a number of clubs.

However, the 27-yearold is determined to help Newcastle back to the top-flight, and he insists not even Real Madrid could lure him from Tyneside.

“Maybe the club have received some offers, but we spoke together, and it was more important to stay – for me and the club,” Coloccini told the Evening Chronicle.

“That’s something that I wanted to do after last season. Playing in the lower league has been different, but I wouldn’t leave – not even for Real Madrid!”
