McCarthy rivals Newcastle United for striker
Mick McCarthy is set to table a bid for Leeds United Football Club’s Jermaine Beckford.
The 26-year-old is one of the most wanted players in England this month, due to his goalscoring feats in League One for the Elland Road club.
Beckford also proved his quality in the FA Cup recently, when he scored the only goal of the game to dump Manchester United out of the third round at Old Trafford.
The striker is out of contract in the summer, and shortly after scoring the most famous goal of the year so far, he handed in a transfer request.
Whilst Newcastle United are favourites to sign Beckford despite having a bid already rejected, reports suggest McCarthy is lining him up for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
