Leeds United line up Beckford replacement
09:00 AM 14 January, 2010
Marlon Harewood is a target for Leeds United Football Club.

The Whites are set to lose top goalscorer Jermaine Beckford this month, after the player submitted a transfer request with his contract six months from expiry.

A number of Premier League clubs have been linked with the 26-year-old, although Championship leaders Newcastle United remain favourites to take him.

Leeds, meanwhile, will try and persuade Harewood to quit his role on the fringes of the Aston Villa side for regular football in League One.

Simon Grayson hopes he can get the 30-year-old on a six-month loan deal, but he will also ask the Midlands side to pay half of his £30,000-per-week salary.
